Don’t Overdo It
You don’t need necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, anklets, toe rings, a capelet, hair ornaments, a veil, and a tiara when accessorizing your wedding dress. Overpowering your entire look with too many accessories is just unfortunate! Instead, look at your wedding gown and go from there. Plan your accessories around the dress instead of trying to wear all your favorite pieces of jewelry. For example, if your dress is fairly simple, a couple statement pieces will work nicely. If you have a very ornate neckline, skip a necklace and choose small but sparkly earrings. If your dress has a capelet, avoid lots of “upper” jewelry and hair accessories.

If the back of your dress deserves attention, your veil shouldn’t hide it, and you should go with a shorter style of veil, such as a blusher veil or a birdcage.

If you don’t want to wear a veil, you may be interested in something special for your hair. This can be any number of things: flowers woven in, combs, pins, headbands, floral crowns—the list goes on. The best thing to do is to figure out how you’re wearing your hair, then select a hair accessory that compliments the hairstyle.

A big mistake many brides make when accessorizing their wedding dress: falling in love with a pair of heels that go perfectly with the dress—and then not testing them out before the wedding day.
